MIXED USE W/ PENTHOUSE RESIDENCE

This project was designed for Raymond Messier, Owner/Developer of the property and was pre-sold with approved and permitted design and construction documents.

This is the second mixed use project completed with Mr. Messier, and was a special project as it set precedence in Telluride in three ways.  The first, the use of vertical board-formed concrete as the ground and second story front facade material.  This was approved but HARC (Historical Architecture Review Committee) after providing the board with historical images of local buildings with vertical wood back in the mining days, so our creative interpretation of the same.  The second, was for the continuous shallow pitched shed roof form, which again was accepted by the board after showing imagery of historical buildings with similar roof forms.  The third is the use of a lift-up door at the commercial space.  This was a big achievement, all three counts. 

 

The program for this project is a commercial space at ground level as well as main entry to the penthouse residential unit.  Also located at the ground level at the rear of the property is a 4 car garage and a rear entrance to commercial space and also a secondary means of egress for the penthouse unit.

The penthouse residence consists of 3 stories including a 5 bedrooms and 4 1/2 baths with the great spaces all at the upper spaces all located at the upper (3rd) floor.  A central stair case, celebrated by a pyramid skylight at the upper level draws call you up to soar with the mountains. There is an elevator also for ease in navigating the multiple levels.  This is a cutting edge contemporary masterpiece up high in the San Juan Mountains to live, work, or play year round.
